I've just sifted through a raft of gushing 10/10 reviews so thought I'd add a bit of balance to all the hyperbole. Is Joker a decent, well-made, well-performed film that's worth seeing? Yes, undoubtedly. Does it warrant the rampant pant-wetting it's received? No, not really. To be blown away by this film you've either lived quite a sheltered life or not seen many movies prior to the last couple of decades. Has it been done better before? Yep. Is it a bit of a clear rip-off of a couple of obvious movies? Yep. Was I sat there for two hours waiting for what happened to happen? Yep. A supposedly shocking movie should not be so predictable. Our expectations really have been watered down by endless dross over the last few years. Decent - if not very good - but, hey, let's not get carried away.
